Friends of the German Literature Archive Marbach
The Friends of the German Literature Archive Marbach is a registered non-profit association. Due to financial support of the association, many important acquisitions and structural measures have been made possible in the years since its founding. The co-financing of the Suhrkamp/Insel Archive and recent support in the acquisition of the Estate of Siegfried Lenz as well as the renovation of the Schiller National Museum are mentioned here as examples. The Friends of the German Literature Archive also offer scholarships and sponsor research projects and conferences. Moreover, the association plays an instrumental role in supporting relations between the German Literature Archive and interested cultural, political and economic circles.
The association was founded in 1995 as the Friends of the Schiller National Museum and of the German Literature Archive. Its headquarters is located in Marbach am Neckar and its goal is to promote literature studies and the research of literature, language and poetry. To this end, the association supports the German Literature Archive, which is funded under private law by the German Schiller Society e.V. In doing so, the association supports the establishments of the German Literature Archive, Schiller National Museum, German Literature Archive and Museum of Modern Literature as well as the archive’s tasks. The association also aims to deepen the awareness of the importance of the German Literature Archive.
The organs of the association are the Members’ Assembly and the Board of Directors. Yearly membership dues amount to €500. Donation certificates are displayed for the membership dues, as well as for additional donations.
