Editions and Digital Humanities
Digital humanities, humanities driven by digital technologies, are a means of research that is developing rapidly and has great potential in the future. The Department of Editions and Digital Humanities develops models for how editions with structured texts can be created, using practical examples. We equally attach great value to the long-term availability and reusability of digital texts through the methods of digital humanities, as well as working on them scientifically.
As the contact point for digital editions and for methods of digital humanities, we assist researchers in their own research both through our experience with digital tools and through practical support in choosing software and setting its parameters.
Further, we are running and developing knowledge bases such as the Edition Databank and the central internal databank for index terms such as persons, places, works, bodies of work, periodicals and things.
We cooperate closely with the University of Würzburg.
