Marbach Weimar Wolfenbüttel Research Association
Since the reunification of Germany, the German Literature Archive Marbach, the Klassik Stifung Weimar, and the Herzog August Library Wolfenbüttel have expanded to dynamic and internationally networked centers for humanities research. As a response to recommendations of the German Council of Science and the Humanities, they have founded a research association that has been sponsored by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) since 2012.
Inspired by the rich collections in the archives, libraries, and museums of the three institutions, the association’s main interests are to provide a progressive impetus to the research work of the humanities and cultural studies and to further develop the approaches to data modeling and long-term storage in the area of the Digital Humanities. The research association should encourage the international community of young researchers within the framework of collections-related research programs and intensify the dialogue between and the collaboration with international partner institutions.
