To think as a 21st century archive means to think broadly, to expand acquisition strategies in favor of multilateral solutions, and to seize upon structures and methods from the Digital Humanities. The concept of the Global Archives relies on an exchange of criteria and competencies and at the same time encourages the diversity of local traditions to remain autonomous. Concrete cataloguing and research achievements that are relevant for international humanities are accomplished within the framework of the concept of the Global Archives. International German Studies are likewise strengthened in partner countries.
