Use of the ›Images and objects‹

The use of the study room is only possible with prior appointment. This can be done by emailing bilder-und-objekte@dla-marbach.de after ordering the material via OPAC.

Your registration for the German Literature Archive is handled through the library.

Opening hours of the ›Images and objects‹ study room:

• Monday to Thursday 9 am. to 5 pm., Friday 9 am to 3 pm
  Last retrieval: one hour bevor closing
• Public holidays and limited use

For the use of the collections of the German Literature Archive the following is to be considered:

• Media and collections, which cannot be consulted in the reading room of the manuscripts or the library (among other things, not categorized closed collections, images and objects, sound- and film-carrier), are excluded from using. Please contact us in time in case your research requires these media and collections.
• Holdings of the manuscripts which are currently shown in exhibitions must be ordered at least two weeks in advance.

Loans

Registered users can place advance orders via the online catalogue. We recommend placing advance orders at least one week before your planned visit to the DLA.

Please note that orders from external storage facilities may require a longer processing time of up to four weeks. Detailed information on this can be found directly in the online catalogue.

Fees

The collections of the ›Images and objects‹ department are available free of charge for scientific, literary, and journalistic work and studies.

However, fees are charged for special services such as scans. Information on current prices and the terms of use for image templates can be found in the ›Reproduction and Usage Fees‹.

Copyrights

Please note that the use of materials from the ›Images and Objects‹ department is subject to various rights.

In addition to personality rights, which generally expire 10 years after the death of the persons depicted, images and objects may still be subject to copyright. These rights remain in force for 70 years after the death of the author (photographer, artist).

Users are responsible for obtaining all necessary rights themselves.  Our staff will be happy to assist you.
