Research at the DLA: multidimensional and multifaceted
Editions and Digital Humanities
Digital Humanities, the study and research of humanities subjects conducted by digital means, represents a rapidly developing field with great future potential. The field of area ‘Editions and Digital Humanities’ uses practical examples to develop models for how editions can be created with structured texts, especially editions of personal data (letters, notes, diaries). Equal priority is given to ensuring the long-term availability and reusability of the electronic text base by means of Digital Humanities methodologies on the one hand and to the sound scholarly handling of the respective texts on the other hand.
This section acts as a contact point for research into editions and Digital Humanities methodologies and aims to provide researchers with an extensive pool of experience on which to draw for their own work as well as with practical support in selecting appropriate software and in defining its parameters.
We provide and maintain the editions infrastructure in conjunction with several cooperative projects.
