Seminarreihe ›Kafkas Echo‹: Kafka’s ›The Trial‹ - Time and Narratology

The seminar will be given as part of the MA course ›Literature – Culture – Media: An Introduction‹ at Lund University. The goal of the seminar is a better understanding of Kafka’s novel The Trial, both in regard to the narrative techniques that are employed in it, the role of time for the narration and the protagonist/characters, as well as questions in regard to the manuscript and the critical editions of the novel. The students are asked to read the novel prior to the seminar in a version based on Malcolm Paisley’s critical edition, together with a book chapter by Anne Fuchs: »The Trouble with Time: Kafka’s Der Proceß«, in: Espen Hammer (ed.), Kafka's The Trial: Philosophical Perspectives, New York: Oxford University Press 2018, pp. 173–200. 

Die Vortragssprache ist Englisch.
